Detectnology has been appointed to provide security equipment and technical support for this year’s Ryder Cup. Taking place at the Celtic Manor Resort, Wales, from 1-3 October, the golfing tournament will pit teams of professional players from the USA and Europe.

As part of Detectnology’s work for the competition, it will provide the installation, commissioning, servicing and de-commissioning of Archway Metal Detectors, hand-held scanners and X-ray equipment which will be deployed around The Twenty Ten Course and at the event’s park and ride sites.

Detectnology, which worked on previous Ryder Cups, has also provided security on a variety of major sporting and other events around the UK, including The Open Championship, Aintree Grand National, Test Cricket and World Indoor Athletics.

Detectnology’s managing director, Russell Moles, said: “The significant experience that we have for deploying security systems at major sporting events puts us in a very strong position to service The Ryder Cup’s requirements at this most prestigious event.

“Through our close working relationship with Ryder Cup Ltd, we understand the requirements of our client and how critical it is to provide security measures such as these in the most cost effective and efficient way.”

Sporting a good reputation

Mark Jones, security consultant to the Ryder Cup, said: “Detectnology has a well-deserved reputation for the consistent delivery of security services to its customers. We were very pleased with the high standard of equipment and technical support they contributed to our security operation for previous Ryder Cups, both in 2002 at The Belfry and 2006 at The K Club in Ireland. All of our key suppliers for this event are carefully chosen and it is essential that the companies we select share our focus and can meet the same exacting standards that we set ourselves”.
